The difference: Principles, Rules and Standards

Principles are the underlying concepts.  When principles are stated in their simplest form, they are sometimes called 'frameworks'.

Rules are when 'you' or 'they' impose expectations on 'me'.  Many social structures need rules.

Standards are expections regarding how we live and connect that we agree on together.  They describe how we agree to conduct ourselves.
